Including the need to provide a comprehensive range of financial planning services regarding various product knowledge for individual client’s complex issues and strategies within the financial plan.

The role of the Paraplanner

The FNS60920 Advanced Diploma of Paraplanning qualification will delve into complex issues and strategies in the preparation of Statements of Advice for clients. Paraplanners will gain the required skills and cover in-depth concepts in preparing Statements of Advice, as well as compliant documentation in the preparation of financial plans for clients on behalf of the Financial Adviser/Planner.

The role may include but is not limited to Preparing Records of Advice, Statements of Advice, maintaining client records and files, contacting clients from time to time on behalf of the Financial Advisor/Planner or preparing specific product quotes. Learn how to understand the tools available in the Financial planning software program (XPLAN) to assist you to create the most complex and strategic Financial Plans.

Free use of XPLAN is included in this course. Learn how to create professional Statements of Advice and receive free access to the IRESS Learning Centre to understand all the tools available.

Course Overview

This course is ideal for adults of all ages seeking to enter the Financial Planning Industry as a Paraplanner. You may wish to work in your own business or you can work as an employee or contractor in this role. You would work alongside the Financial Advisor/Planneer to gather and research the best options for clients to prepare Financial Plans and generate Statements of Advice on behalf of the Advisor.

Entry Requirements

Nil Year 12 English equivalent recommended

Hardware & Software

Access to a computer/laptop with internet access and either Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. Microsoft Excel 2003 or later, Microsoft Word 2003 or later.

Study Method

Course Duration

The duration of the course will vary depending on each individual student and their prior experience and knowledge. Typically assessments may take between 250 hours to 300 hours depending on experience (study time will vary), within a maximum of 24 months. Contact us for further information. This qualification mapped via a clustered arrangement whereby many units of competency are spread across several chapters of assessment tasks. This reduces doubling up on identical tasks.

Exemptions and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

If you have completed previous studies in the financial services area or the Diploma of Financial Planning and or Advanced Diploma of Financial Planning with IIT, you may be eligible for some credits towards this course by way of course exemptions. Further qualification pathways in the Financial Planning stream may be available through several universities. Each university or provider will determine their approved credits or articulation agreements from our qualification.
